Antique early 19th century engraving in silvered wooden frame by Georgiana Spencer, Duchess of Devonshire. Measures: 19.5x13cm.

The picture comes from a part of the Swedish sculptor and artist Anton Wahledow's private art collection. Anton Wahledov, born 28 April 1862 in Ramdala, Blekinge county, died 24 June 1923 in Kalmar, was a Swedish ornamental sculptor, draftsman and painter. He was the son of timber merchant Carl Jonsson and Karin Karlsdotter and married to Maria Pettersson. Wahledow graduated from the Craft Seminar in Kalmar in 1884 and then worked for a year at Selma Giæbel's studio in Stockholm. He studied at the Technical School in Stockholm 1886-1887 and from 1888 was active with furniture design, wood sculptures and other crafts in his own studio in Kalmar. In 1896, he was employed as a teacher of freehand drawing and wood sculpture at the Kalmar county technical vocational school, where he came to have a great influence on younger art adepts among the students . Wahledov worked in the art nouveau tradition. As a draftsman, he published in printed form the drawing collections Kalmar in a century and Bornholm in a millennium. He participated in the exhibitions of Sweden's general art association in Kalmar and an art exhibition at Kalmar Castle in 1910. He is buried at Södra cemetery in Kalmar.
